Unbelievable Falls hike through Pico Bonito National Park

The Lodge at Pico Bonito offers day tours for those looking to get out and explore. The most popular excursion is a 4/5 hour rainforest hike through one of Central America's most pristine jungles. Spot birds, monkeys and intriguing insects + plants through this protected area, before reaching a remarkable double waterfall descending 100ft into an alluring lagoon.

Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge

Another great recommended day trip from the Lodge is a boat tour through the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge. Hop on a small train through a village before canoeing along 13 square miles of wetlands, home to more than 350 species of birds, mangroves and monkeys. 

Cayos Cochinos Day Tour

The Cayos Cochinos islands, are two small islands, Cayo Menor and Cayo Grande, and 13 tiny coral cays. These stunning quiet strips of land are home to just 108 inhabitants, known as the Garifuna (descendants of West African, Central African, Island Carib, and Arawak people). Take a small motorized boat over to both of the main islands, snorkel at the second largest barrier reef in the world and stop off to grab an authentic Garifuna seafood lunch on one of the small cays, Chachahuate.
